The Engineering Development Manager will work alongside and report into the Chief Engineer.
A key element of this role is the management and coordination of the engineering department.
Working closely with the other members of the senior engineering management team supporting and assisting them as and when required.
Aiding with the management of the engineering team through leading by example.
Designing people strategies and plans to assist with the management of the engineering department including developing effective methods to attract, retain, motivate, and reward staff.
Undertaking all recruitment and onboarding activities. This includes liaising with approved recruitment agencies (as per the Recruitment Policy), reviewing CV’s, interviewing, and inducting them into the engineering department.
Being responsible for the ongoing development and training of the department. This includes identifying a realistic training plan, implementing it and ensuring its successful delivery.
Responsibility for the apprentice journeyman and engineering apprentices. Ensuring that the journeymen provides the apprentices with appropriate levels of support and opportunities for them to achieve the breadth of experience required.
Coordinating and implementing the department shift plan.
Advocating a performance culture including appraisals, reviews and disciplinaries.
Helping to ensure that all equipment is maintained and is in good working order.
Aiding with maintenance of all appropriate accreditations.
Supervising external suppliers and contractors within all site activities and operations to make daily production and maintenance requirements of the factory.
Managing change requests.
Investigating problems and/or complaints.
Coordinating and managing all external Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) and enabling work suppliers.
A sound knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as root causes analysis, machinery reliability, maintenance etc.
Proficient IT Skills.
Knowledge and experience of the machinery in a modern processing plant is essential.
Management experience is essential.
